»  Comments | Post a Comment

What was its name before it became South Florida Community College? Where was the college located before moving to College Drive? And why was Avon Park chosen as the location?

Attendees will hear the answers to questions today at the Depot Museum as it hosts the Summer Sunday Speakers Series.

Today's program, "The Growing Up Years of SFCC," will feature a panel of former faculty and staff members sharing their experiences during the early days of the college.

Making up the panel are Roberta Flowers, Dr. Wilfred Beumel, Don Farrens and Bill Hood.

The event will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. The museum opens at 1 p.m. Admission is free, but donations are accepted. Refreshments will be served.

More info: Larry Levey, historical society president, 385-8618.
