Woman charged with throwing boiling water at children

A Sebring woman was out of jail Monday on a $1,000 bond after her weekend arrest for allegedly throwing a pot of boiling water at children.

Evera Jones Mack, 52, was charged with 12 counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without the intent to kill and 12 counts of cruelty toward a child.

On Saturday, Mack was accused of throwing the boiling water at the victims, who had to flee in order to avoid being hit by the water, according to the arrest report. This reportedly happened because the suspect wanted the victims to leave the property.

Then, on Sunday, Mack allegedly threatened to throw a pot of boiling water at the victims because they had not picked up dirty laundry quick enough, the report stated. In this instance, no water was thrown, but the threat was made.

Highlands County Sheriff's Deputy John E. Steffner III made the arrest.
