Annexation on Sebring council agenda

»  Comments | Post a Comment

The city council will consider tonight a staff recommendation to approve an annexation and development agreement on two parcels less than 10 acres each, north of the Sebring city limits.

Joe L. Davis Jr. and John H. O'Neal own the parcels.

City Administrator Scott Noethlich said Monday that Sebring was not obligated to annex the property even when it became contiguous with city limits and unless the developer was willing to pay for sewer and water hookup.

"If and when they become eligible to be annexed into the city, it's the city's choice," said Noethlich.

"We don't have to annex them. It helps the developer with (the Department of Community Affairs) that when they're ready to develop, the city will supply services."

The properties are now zoned agricultural. The owners are seeking to change the zoning to medium density.

One parcel is located after the curve headed east on Ben Eastman. The second property is located on the west side of State Road 17 headed north past Powerline Road.
