A 58-year-old Sebring resident was killed shortly after 1 p.m. Saturday when his Chevy pickup veered off the north-bound shoulder of U.S 98, and he was thrown out of the pickup, according to a Florida Highway Patrol press release.
Gregory Lee Dygert was traveling west on U.S. 98 at about 1:25 p.m. His pickup crossed lanes and came to a stop in a vacant lot on the south shoulder. Dygert was not wearing a seatbelt and the fatality is alcohol-related, the press release added.
Traffic was shut down to one lane for about two hours.
