AP Man Charged With Car Burglaries

Police, in a traffic stop, recovered thousands of dollars in merchandise and items of mail reportedly stolen Sunday from several locations in Sebring and possibly within the county.

At about 9:34 a.m. Sunday police were called to the 1400 block of Vicki Drive regarding a car fishing type burglary to a blue Dodge pickup truck. Stolen from inside some time between 7:45 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. were compact discs worth about $300 and an Animas brand insulin pump valued at $6,000.

There was no sign of forced entry, the police report stated.

At about 12:35 p.m. police were told to be on the lookout for a green Dodge pickup truck that reportedly had been involved in a burglary on Sparta Road.

Police Cpl. Mike Cutolo spotted a truck on Lakeview Drive and St. Agnes Road that matched the description of the vehicle in the alert and pulled it over.

Police arrested Franklin Trenton Gordon, 36, of 3125 Glacier Ave., Avon Park, and charged him with burglary of a structure or conveyance, grand theft $5,000 or more but less than $10,000 and petty theft $100 to $300.

Gordon also goes by the aliases David Allen Smith, Kerry Lopez, Franklin Trent, Trent Gordon, Edward Player Gordon, David Smith, Trent Franklin Gordon, and the street name Edward Player, according to the arrest report.

During a search of the truck, police recovered numerous CDs and an Animas insulin pump, two CD cases, a Capital One credit card in the name of the victim who filed the Vicki Drive report, and miscellaneous mail belonging to a man on Pinewood Boulevard, the report started.

Police report they learned during their investigation that Gordon had burglarized a car outside the office of Highlands Today, belonging to an employee. Officer Brandon Low drove to the newspaper office and spoke with the victim.

The employee reported that several CDs and his vehicle registration were missing. The value of his CDs was $120, the report stated.

A female passenger was in the truck but was not arrested, according to police.
