Police were looking Monday for help from the public to identify a man who they say is a suspect in the theft of a 42-inch TV set from the lobby of the Residence Inn hotel on Little Lake Jackson, in Sebring.
Between 6:30 p.m. and 7:18 p.m. Sept. 2, a man entered the hotel, disconnected the TV and walked out the front door with it, said Sebring Police Investigator Michael Hirsch.
The LG flat screen TV was valued at $1,300, Hirsch said Monday.
"The suspect sat in the lobby and watched television," Hirsch said. "When ever (the clerk) was gone, he'd manipulate the TV."
At some point he disconnected it, and walked out with it, he said.
"The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 21 to 35 years of age, 150 to 200 pounds, with a medium build," Hirsch wrote in a news release. "The suspect has long black hair (braided) and a mustache."
He was wearing a white T-shirt with a design and writing on the front, long blue jean shorts and white and black or blue sneakers.
The clerk did not know him as being a guest, he said.
Police are asking for anyone with information on the individual pictured in the photo to contact Hirsch at police headquarters by calling 863-471-5108.
