Today I found a brochure from Mary Wilson in my mailbox. I was somewhat baffled because I have been driving around with a giant Bob Germaine For Clerk sign in the bed of my truck for several months now. I took a look at it and I was flabbergasted at the statement on the inside cover.
The figure that was quoted there as Bob's compensation for his first term in office was a complete fabrication. How do I know that? I have worked for the county government for a lot of years and I know how the pay system works. I also asked Bob and he confirmed what I thought. We all know based on recent national history that figures can be manipulated to say just about anything.
I have known Bob for nearly 40 years. We worked together in the clerk's office in the early '70s through the early '80s. I never heard Bob refer to his work then as his job; he always referred to it as his "career." Through the years while I was doing other things and settling in somewhere else, Bob stayed there and served the people of Highlands County with dedication and hard work. Believe me when I tell you that the citizens of Highlands County have always gotten their money's worth from Bob Germaine.
When I started in the clerk's office, wages were less than $2.80 an hour. In fact, the sweet little lady who hand wrote our checks in those days said to me once, "Honey I feel bad when I write your little check." Back then Bob made $6 more a week than I did.
Bob Germaine is a great asset to Highlands County. He has spent most of his life serving you the citizens and I would ask you to give him the opportunity to serve you as your clerk of courts.
Bob has run his campaign with respect, truth and dignity. I would ask your consideration for my good friend, family man, husband, father and grandfather, Bob Germaine to be your next clerk of courts.
