Pied Piper

»  Comments | Post a Comment

I am reminded of the Pied Piper of Hamelin. He came to town and played a haunting, strange tune on his pipe. The children of the town were attracted to this tune and fell in line behind him. Away they went, the Pied Piper and the youth, and they were never seen again.

I'm also reminded of the Lincoln-Douglas debates in Illinois in 1858, with the slick politician Douglas, and the odd looking country lawyer, Lincoln. Douglas was eloquent, Lincoln was not. The Senate seat was the prize. Douglas won the seat with his smooth talking, over Lincoln.

So we have Obama from Chicago; exciting the youth with his flowery speech. We had Slick Willie, now we have Slick Barack. Was his hero Richard J. Daley, the Democrat mayor of Chicago in the 60's and 70's, known as the "last of the big city bosses?"

One of Obama's many earmarks was millions of dollars for a children's museum in Chicago. I, as a taxpayer, helped pay for that museum that I'm sure his daughter's will enjoy; let Chicago and Illinois pay for the museum; not me. Obama wants to buy my vote. I thought that was against the law, but he says, "Elect me, and I will cut your taxes." So who will pay for the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts and the $700 billion aid to Wall Street?

This Pied Piper is the most liberal member of the U.S. Senate. You know what liberals, a well-meaning group, believe; they have this very socialist-leaning attitude about big government being big brother. I don't think so. I'm voting McCain.
