Re-Elect Benton

President Reagan once said (Jan. 26 1982) "We don't have to turn to our history books for heroes. They are all around us." This is true in our Highlands County.

We have the honor and privilege to have the finest law enforcement officers in the county. Many of these courageous officers have faced death and suffered hardships while protecting our lives and properties.

Just like any other institution in our government, the finest are made, learning from their leaders. In our county, Tom Detman and Commander Carr, Sebring Police Department; Susan Benton, sheriff's department; and the Florida Highway Patrol.

These are the heroes that will inspire us as Americans. We owe them a debt of gratitude for their job that is second to none; Democrats, Republicans, non party affiliated, our inner happiness depends not in what we experience, but on the degree of our gratitude to those fine officers.

What a joyful thought to realize that we are about to elect or re-elect the finest at its best. I am a registered Republican. My choice is Susan Benton, a friend and a perfect vessel perfectly suited for such journey and leadership.

Officer Grimming is and has served our cause with honor and dedication, and I thank him for being a fellow officer of such high caliber that has protected our homeland and preserved our freedom; I salute you sir.

But, no one knows Highlands County like Benton. In college I remember a professor that said to us "God not only knows us, but he values us highly in spite all he knows about us." Benton knows us better; the good, the bad and the ugly.

America is facing very difficult times and in my personal opinion none of the presidential candidates will be able to solve our problems any day soon. We live in an imperfect world, but it is the only one we have.

Re-elect Benton and keep in mind that small leaks will sink a great ship. Benton is the perfect vessel with no leaks.
