I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for your recent coverage of the 23rd annual Zenon Award Show on Sept. 27. The volunteers at HLT work extremely hard during the year to bring quality entertainment to the Highlands County community and this is their night of recognition for a job well done.
Our version of the Broadway "Tony Awards" is presented in categories of best show, director, actor-actress, lights, sound and service to HLT, to name a few. The loving, dedicated people receive no salary, so these awards exemplify the recognition of our season ticket holders, directors and the board of directors.
Unfortunately, the article printed in the newspaper incorrectly listed Christopher Hayes as winning Best actor for "Frederic" in "Pirates of Penzance," when in fact he won that award for "Radames" in AIDA. Likewise, Kelly Pelham won Best Supporting actress not as "Gertrude McFuzz" in "Seussical," but as "Amneris" in "AIDA."
As administrator for the awards this year, I just wanted to get the record straight for our supporters and members. These fine people deserve their recognition and it needs to be announced accurately. Thank you for your indulgence.
