Deputies with the Highland County Sheriff's Office seized 70 cannabis plants, valued around $420,000, from a grow-house off Parkland Avenue in Lake Placid late Wednesday afternoon.
Capt. Randy LaBelle, of the office's drug unit, said law enforcement received an anonymous tip around 3 p.m., informing them of the grow house. It was located behind a residence at 228 Parkland Avenue. No one was home when officers arrived.
Each of the plants were seven feet in height and deputies worked into the evening removing them from the grow-house. Officials with code enforcement and animal control also came to the scene, as a number of animals, such as roosters and goats, were found at the residence.
The investigation is on-going.
