A key quality of successful leadership is trust, but trust has to be earned.
This has been proven regardless of the place of the leader: home, nation, church or workplace.
One of the greatest books I have ever read on leadership (other than the Bible: Nehemiah, Ruth, David, Esther, Jesus, etc.) is The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership, by John C. Maxwell, published by Thomas Nelson Publishers.
Number nine is "The Law of Magnetism: Who you are is who you attract," and number 11 is "The Law of the Inner Circle: A leader's potential is determined by those closest to him." The truthfulness of these statements/laws has been proven over centuries.
If I am not personally acquainted with a person to establish trust, then I must rely on what that person says, writes and acts as a basis for trust.
This being true as well as the aforementioned laws of leadership, I do not trust Barack Obama.
I do not trust him as our president to defend our country as commander-in-chief, to protect freedom of religion, to protect the unborn, to promote the free enterprise system and to uphold the founding documents of our country. You shall know a tree by its fruit.
