Now that the bailout bill has been signed and the new players are being hired to make this plan work, my question is, will they be paid the obscene salaries that were enjoyed in the past?
If the American taxpayers are now their employers, and I am one of them, I want to see exactly what they are being offered in the way of salary.
I want to see in a publicly published contract what perks they receive in addition to the base salary.
If they balk at this information being available for public scrutiny, reject them and seek a different person. I would imagine there are many young eager financial experts who would relish this opportunity to make history.
The old guard felt and probably still feels as if they were entitled to the outrageous monies that were bestowed on them by their boards of directors.
If these same CEOs were living in China instead of the USA, they more than likely would be imprisoned, all their assets seized by the government and they probably would have been executed.
While I don't expect these CEOs to be executed, I do want the Justice Department to examine the details of their past and if evidence of criminal activity is found, let the judicial system do its thing.
