Cheap Gasoline

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A recent editorial in the Tampa Tribune warns us that a "whiff of cheap gasoline tempts us to be wasteful." Let's not fall victim to this temptation. As I drive up and down U.S. 27 in Central Florida and see cars and trucks exceeding the speed limit by 10, 15 or sometimes 20 mph, I remember a report in the Tampa Tribune that said we could save as much as 6 percent of our total consumption of gasoline by just driving no more than the speed limit.

That could send a message to the oil sharks in our nation and abroad that we are really serious about our gasoline consumption.

Why not be really patriotic and smart and lower our maximum speed to 60 mph? Well, maybe the speed limit is about as much as we can expect from our fellow Americans. Do you think that is true?
