As the 2008 season comes to an end, Miracle League of Lake Placid would like to extend a sincere thank you to all of our volunteers. The angels in the outfield and fans in the stands truly make Miracle League possible. In our second year we were able to provide over 65 athletes the opportunity to play baseball.
More importantly, the players were able to experience the thrill of competition and the joy of victory and accomplishment. Some of our athletes walked the bases independently without a wheel chair for the first time this year. Many others were able to hit a pitched baseball rather than a ball on a tee. These accomplishments, along with many others, would not have been possible if it were not for the dedication of our volunteers, who give of themselves every Saturday for eight weeks, so that others may succeed.
To all of the volunteers who have helped build Miracle League over the last two years, we offer a heartfelt thank you. You are having a significant positive impact on the lives of individuals with disabilities, and through your generosity and commitment are also making our world a better place.
