HCA To Hold Press Release Workshop

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Sue Lewis, director of music ministries for St. John United Methodist Church, pinpointed the issue when she said, "All of us arts organizations share the same problem: getting the word out."

That's why the Heartland Cultural Alliance (HCA), the county's official arts agency, is sponsoring a free workshop on "Writing Press Releases That Work."

To be held from 1-3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19 in the board room of Highlands Independent Bank on U.S. 27 across from Home Depot, the workshop is open to all non-profit organizations, especially those involved with the arts and other cultural activities.

Representatives from the local media, including Highlands Today, along with several people who often write press releases, will discuss the ins-and-outs and dos-and-don'ts of writing press releases and how to get them published.

"Highlands County offers a wide variety of cultural activities," Jo Brenner, HCA president, said, "and it's important for the public to know about them. We think this workshop will help do that."

Pre-registration is a must. To register, or for more information, call Brenner at 385-3105 or Larry Levey, HCA board member, at 385-8618, by Monday, Nov. 17.
