I have to admit I had mixed feeling about being at Highlands Little Theatre's production of "Beauty and the Beast" Saturday night, as I am a big fan of the Heartland Idol contest, and the finale for this season was Saturday night. But since my husband and I have season tickets for the theater and Saturday was our night, we had no choice to miss out on the Idol contest. Oh well, I guess that just saves the readers of the editor letters a break, as I can only cover one of the events this time.
On our way to church Sunday morning I was telling a friend about the play and she asked, "Was it good?" Before I could get my mouth opened to answer, my husband, Van, piped up and said. "Better than good!" I have to tell you, that was quick of Van, because my mouth is most always on the go, but better than good does not ever do justice to what the people of Highlands Little Theatre did to "Beauty and the Beast" The costumes, sound, lighting, set design, you name it. Then there was the acting. You would have thought you were at a Broadway performance. Each performer had their part down to perfection. I just don't see how Patty Young keeps her arm up in that teapot pose for so long, she must have had a brace.
I cannot think of one person who didn't play their part to the hilt. As always the food and service was great, different youth groups do the serving to raise money for their group. I must say they put there all into it; they deserve every dime they get in tips.
