SEBRING Three people remained in jail Thursday after their Wednesday arrest following the discovery of a meth lab.

Brian Anthony Guzowski, 46, of Wauchula, and Alfred Lynn Poppen, 41, of 3425 Cindy's Lane, Sebring, were both charged with production of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both remained in custody without bond.

Guzowski was additionally charged with possession of methamphetamine and another count of possession of drug paraphernalia. Sandra Ann Fellhauer, 45, of 2525 U.S. 27 N., Avon Park, faces the same two aforementioned counts and has a $20,000 bond. These charges stemmed from a traffic stop.

At 2 a.m., Wednesday, deputies with the Highlands County Sheriff's Office responded to the Cindy's Lane address after receiving information that Guzowski was allegedly there manufacturing methamphetamine, according to the arrest report.

Deputies reported that a white Ford van, allegedly Guzowski's, was parked in the front of the home upon their arrival. They said they saw the suspect exit the residence several times, and on numerous occasions would carry items to the van, such as a box and dark-colored bag.

Guzowski also placed items into a burn barrel and lit the contents on fire, the report stated. This caused a large explosion and shot flames between 20 to 25 feet in the air.

Eventually, the suspect left the house in the company of an unknown female who was later identified as Fellhauer. The two got into the van, with Guzowski driving, and left. Deputies had previously looked up his driver's license information and discovered he did not have a valid license. A traffic stop was then made on the van and Guzowski was arrested for driving on a suspended/revoked license.

Law enforcement reportedly found a cooler containing glass jars, tubing and lithium batteries in the rear of the van. It was believed to be the same cooler Guzowski put into the van prior to leaving the Cindy's Lane residence.

Many of the items allegedly contained a powdery residue that field tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine.

Deputies said they also found a glass pipe inside of Fellhauer's purse. She then told authorities she was concealing illegal drugs upon her person that Guzowski had given to her to hide, the report stated.

The items Fellhauer removed were three cellophane baggies containing an off-white powdery substance that also was said to field test positive for the presence of meth.

Arresting Deputy Michael Grieco Jr., said the powder appeared to be wet, as if it was just manufactured.

After the traffic stop, deputies secured the home at Cindy's Lane and all the occupants, which included Poppen, until a search warrant was obtained.

A search of the residence turned up several items consistent with a meth lab, including fertilizer, lithium strips from batterys, column fuel, muriatic acid, heat, sodium hydroxide, salt, coffee filters, syringes, paper gas masks and assorted glass, according to the report.

Authorities also reported that 2.9 grams of finished meth were found in a bedroom, along with torn plastic baggies.

Poppen allegedly told deputies that he had lived at the residence for four months and had purchased Sudafed for Guzowski to perform a "meth cook."

Deputy Michael Brod made the arrest.
