Junior Miss Lake Placid Pageant

LAKE PLACID - The first Junior Miss Lake Placid Pageant will be held tonight at 7 at Lake Placid High School. Doors open at 6:30.

Highlands Social Dance Club Hosting The Golden Era Big Band

SEBRING - The Highlands Social Dance Club hosts ballroom dancing tonight from 7 - 9:30 at the Sebring Lions Club on Sebring Parkway.

Music will be provided by the Golden Era Big Band (formally known as the G I Joe Big Band).

Walt and Sue will resume dance instruction at 6:30 pm.

All club dances are open to the public. Appropriate dress required.

Admission is $4 for members and $6 for non-members. Memberships are available.

The Golden Era Big Band will also provide dance music on Dec. 12, Jan. 9, Feb. 6, March 6 and April 3.

The Skylarks will provide the dance music on Nov. 14, Dec. 5 and 19, Jan. 2, 16 and 30, Feb. 13 and 27 and March 13 and 27.

SEBRING - There will be three performances of "Beauty and the Beast" this weekend at Highlands Little Theatre, 356 W. Center Ave., in Sebring.

The curtain will go up tonight and Nov 8 at 8. There will be a matinee at 2:30 Nov. 9.

Wine Tasting To Be Held

SEBRING - A wine tasting event to benefit the Highlands Art League will be held from 6:30 - 8:30 tonight at the Visual Arts Center, 1985 Lakeview Drive, in Sebring.

Tickets are $30 per person.

Fall Fest At Royal Care Of Avon Park

AVON PARK - Royal Care of Avon Park will have a fall fest from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. today and Saturday, Nov. 8, at the nursing home, located at 1213 W. Stratford Road.

There will be a yard sale, car wash and a bake sale (pumpkin rolls.) The Alzheimer's Memory Mobile will be there Friday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. to do free memory screening.

The blood mobile will be there Saturday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., for blood donations. All donors will get 50 percent discount tickets to Universal Studios.

Poker Run Planned

SEBRING - AMVETS Post 21 will hold its first Poker Run to benefit the city of Sebring Police K9 Fund on Nov. 8.

It will start and end at Post 21, 2027 U.S. 27 S., in Sebring.

The first bike will go out at 10 a.m. and the last bike will come in at 3 p.m.

The cost is $10 person.

There will be food, entertainment and door prizes.

Miss Lake Placid To Be Crowned

LAKE PLACID - The Miss Lake Placid Pageant is set for Nov. 8 at Lake Placid High School.

The pageant will begin at 5:45 p.m. Doors open at 5.

Tickets are $5 per person and may be purchased at the door or from any of the contestants.

Highlands Libraries Celebrating 20th Anniversary

SEBRING - The public libraries in Highlands County will be celebrating their 20th anniversary Nov. 8.

There will be activities at the Avon Park, Lake Placid and Sebring libraries during the day beginning at 10 a.m.

Finals Of Heartland Idol Set

SEBRING - The finals of Heartland Idol will be held Nov. 8 on the Circle in downtown Sebring.

The singing competition will begin at 6 p.m.
