Fantastic Show

Wow! What a fantastic show. Highlands Little Theatre (HLT) has a real beauty in its current production, "Beauty and the Beast." I took my grandchildren on Nov. 2 for tea and biscuits with Belle. The theater was filled with children and adults meeting the characters, collecting autographs, having their picture taken with Belle and at intermission everyone had a tea party.

The show will be at HLT through Nov. 23, with performances on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons. This show was a large undertaking for HLT but with the help of several businesses in the community they were able to bring this spectacular production to Highlands County.

The director, Kristin Taylor, has created a magical experience for all who attend. You are literally transported into the fairy tale "Disney style." The talented cast and production staff have developed a wonderful theatre experience for all ages. The play "Beauty and the Beast" has a little bit of everything including: an enchanted castle, a beast, a prince, a villain, a princess, singing, dancing and explosions.

In these troubling times it is nice to escape the everyday problems of the economy, housing prices and world affairs. HLT can provide this escape and they have ticket prices to fit most everyone's budget.

Most of all do not neglect your culture of the performing arts. When I was a teenager I played a clarinet with a community concert band in Daytona Beach and I was told by a professional musician not to neglect my culture (the arts). I am now challenging everyone in our community: do not neglect your culture! Attend live theater at HLT. There are five plays being offered for the season.
