SEBRING - Women have been waiting for the return of "Sex and the City" since it left the air, and many are pulling out all the stops for today's movie premiere.
For the chick flick of the summer, women will be heading to the theaters with their favorite heels, their fabulous purses and - the best accessory of all - their girlfriends.
Jeri Wohl and 10 of her friends will be going to the movie in style - taking a limo to a fancy premiere party in Orlando, hosted by her daughter, Casey Wohl, author of "Getaway Girl" books. The bash to welcome back Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte will feature cosmopolitans named after the characters and a fashion show before the showing of the film.
"It's going to be a whole night of 'Sex and the City' fun," Jeri Wohl said. "I am a huge Sex and the City fan and so is my daughter, so she wanted to do a girls night out to celebrate for the premiere. It's a great thing to do with your friends too because it's a movie about a group of friends."
Susan Zelenenki is heading to the theater with her friends for a matinee show on Saturday and then she is hosting a party with cocktails.
"We are going to eat girlie food and talk about the movie," Zelenenki said. "We will enjoy some drinks, probably cosmos, and maybe even watch a few episodes."
Zelenenki is a second-string viewer who started watching when the reruns appeared on TBS - that's when the show really started gaining popularity.
"I love the show, and I am excited to see what happens to Carrie and Mr. Big in the movie," Zelenenki said.
Deborah Fuschetti has been a viewer since day one. She's seen every episode several times, and she and her sister even own the box set with all six seasons.
"We have those to go to whenever we have withdrawal symptoms since the show went off the air," Fuschetti said.
She said one of her favorite episodes is when Samantha finds out she has breast cancer.
"I am a 21-year survivor of breast cancer myself, so I really relate to that episode," Fuschetti said. "To see that kind of episode reminds me that I'm just one of the girls."
"These girls can do everything - they've been through marriages and divorce. You watch them and you relate to them because that's life. You can see a piece of yourself in these characters."
Elaine Jimenez, of Sebring, is meeting a group of her friends in Sarasota to see the movie. The group of girls is even inviting their guy friend, who they call "Mr. Big."
"We mimic the show constantly," Jimenez said. "We quote the characters, and we try to figure out who we are all most like."
Jimenez said she has a cute dress and shoes to wear to the premiere.
"I don't know what purse I am going to take yet," she said. "I am still debating that one."
