Graduation Ceremonies Set For This Weekend

SEBRING - About 700 seniors will don caps and gowns and proud parents will witness an important milestone in their child's life as the three county public high schools hold graduation ceremonies this weekend.

Avon Park High School's graduation ceremony will be held at 6 p.m., Friday, in the South Florida Community College Auditorium. The school has 214 graduating seniors.

Valedictorian Michelle Caibio will speak at the ceremony and Salutatorian Casey McKibben, who will be out of town, will present his speech by video recording.

Class President Olivia Seaser will offer a class history.

Sebring High School's graduation ceremony will be held at 9 a.m., Saturday, at Firemens Field. The home of the Blue Steaks has 323 graduating seniors.

Speakers will include Valedictorian Amy Hart and Salutatorian Mary Mindence.

Lake Placid High School's graduation ceremony will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, in the South Florida Community College Auditorium.

The home of the Green Dragons has 170 graduating seniors.

Speakers will include Valedictorian Yesica Hurtado and Salutatorian Jessica Coury. The senior class officers will also speak.

Awards presented at each ceremony include: the Bailey Award, for the male and female student who were the most courteous and considerate of others according to a vote by the students, the Senior Honor Award and School Board Citizenship Medals.

Also, through a random drawing, a student from each high school will win a car through the Wheels For A's program from the Alan Jay Automotive Network.

Liberty Christian Academy will recognize its two graduating seniors at 7 p.m., June 4, at the Sebring Nazarene Church.

Walker Memorial Academy held its graduation ceremony, with 13 graduating seniors, on May 18 at the Avon Park Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Heartland Christian School held its graduation ceremony May 22 at the Restoration Church. The school graduated eight seniors.
