LAKE PLACID - One of two victims involved in a shooting in Highway Park was scheduled to be released from Tampa General Hospital Tuesday afternoon.
Two men were hospitalized late Sunday after being shot outside Highway Park Liquors, located at 101 Vision St., near Crestmore Drive.
Det. Sgt. Darin Hood, with the Highlands County Sheriff's Office, said Tuesday that sheriff's Det. Anthony McGann had interviewed one of the victims, a 26-year-old man, at Tampa General Tuesday afternoon, and the victim was scheduled to be released after his statement was taken.
The man was listed Monday in stable condition, Hood said.
A second shooting victim, 18, was treated at Florida Hospital and released Monday.
"Two possible male suspects have been identified," he said. "We're still trying to get more information and help from the community in the form of possible witnesses. There was a large gathering at the intersection during that incident."
The intersection is close to U.S. 27. Hood did not know if any shots were fired toward the roadway.
Detectives have not determined how many weapons were discharged or if there was an exchange of gunfire, Hood said. Detectives were still investigating a possible reason for the shooting.
No weapons were recovered at the crime scene, Hood said Tuesday.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact Det. Anthony McGann, at 863-402-7200 or call Heartland Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-TIPS (8477) to remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward.
