The District 11 champion Riverdale baseball team wasn't about to be swept on its home field.
The Raiders strung together 13 hits and knocked around five Sebring pitchers to earn a 10-2 victory over the Blue Streaks in the second game of a Class 4A Regional final series on Friday night at Riverdale High School.
The series now shifts to a do-or-die third game, which will decide who moves on to the state final four next week in Sarasota. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. and complete coverage will appear in Monday's Highlands Today.
The Raiders took a 4-0 lead in the second inning behind a two-run home run from Corey Williams (his second of the day) and an outfield error by the Blue Streaks.
Sebring responded with a solo home run by Gus Williams and a RBI bloop single by Kevin Welborn that scored Matt Musto to get back within two, but Riverdale knocked back-to-back home runs in the top of the fourth to extend its lead to 7-2.
They tacked on two more runs in the top of the fifth on a pair of wild pitches and another in the sixth via a Corey Williams infield hit. Pitcher Nate Gahafer did the rest, fanning 10 Streaks in a complete game, two-hit performance.
