To the readers and voters of Highlands County: There has been much attention from politicians and the good ole boys recently, regarding the 33 misplaced items within the sheriff's office.
Well, my concern is for the 33 percent of our young veterans coming home, either dead or diseased from Iraq; the billions of dollars misspent, no sufficient armor, no safe drinking water, missing uranium, plutonium, weapons and computers.
Let's not forget the thousands of votes that Florida has lost. So, maybe 33 items missing from the four or five different storage places, compared to the thousands that they collect, tag, and store, isn't so bad after all. I'd say that is actually excellent.
I would like all people to know that I am voicing my opinion based on a proud voter and just a Democrat. Barbara Stewart is a Republican and a conscious commissioner. She will have my vote of confidence in the upcoming elections.
