SEBRING - A 16-year-old boy was in the care of the Department of Juvenile Justice on Friday after he was accused of sexually molesting a minor child.
The teenager was booked Wednesday into the Highlands County Jail on charges of two counts of sexual battery on a child 12-years old or younger and two counts of lewd lascivious behavior on a victim less than 12 years old.
Highlands Today withheld the name of the teenager to protect the identity of the victim.
During interviews with Sebring police, the Florida Department of Children and Families and a deputy with the Highlands County Sheriff's Office, the victim described the alleged molestation.
The complaint was initially filed on Feb. 21 by an undisclosed person, perhaps a teacher, who reported the child told him about a secret game the victim played with the teenager, the arrest report stated.
The child could not recall the last time the alleged molestation occurred, but gave explicit details that included a picture he or she drew for a Child Protective Team member, according to the report.
As a result of the disclosures and consistency of the child's statements, the teenager was placed under arrest.
