A car wash, a golf tournament, a scholarship luncheon, a networking luncheon and a membership breakfast are planned by the Greater Sebring Chamber of Commerce, said Interim President Sarah Pallone.
"These are all part of 'Change for the Chamber,'" said Pallone, "which refers to two things. We're changing, and we're accepting donations." The networking breakfast is scheduled for 11:45 a.m. Friday at Kenilworth Lodge. Motivational speaker Duwayne Keller will explain how to motivate employees.
A recognition luncheon is planned for noon Friday, July 18 at Kenilworth Lodge. A free lunch will be provided.
"Just bring your checkbooks," Pallone smiled, because the purpose of the event is to collect scholarship pledges for students.
Ten students of the month and their families will be honored, and one will receive a $4,000 scholarship. The nominees are Taylor Bauer, Lynsey Cleghorn, Kalab Cord, Chelsea Johnson, Indya Martin, Tathiana Rogers Negron, Benjamin Noel, Araceli Nunez, Katie Stewart and Shea Young.
A car wash is planned from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 19. Cars will be cleaned for $10, and trucks for $20. The sponsors, Robert and Heide Miller of Cherokee Janitorial Service are asking for volunteers to wash cars.
"And we want to ask everybody in town to come by and get their cars washed in the parking lot of the Chamber Welcome Center," Pallone said.
Sun'n Lake Golf and Country Club is sponsoring a charity golf tournament on Saturday, July 26, Pallone said. The entry fee is $75 per person.
"If we get 36 teams, we'll raise $10,000 for the chamber," Pallone said. "We need members to put together teams, and of course this is open to the public. We'll have great door prizes, we'll serve cold beer and food on the golf course, and lunch afterwards during the award ceremony." Finally, Florida Hospital is hosting membership breakfasts on July 8 and Aug. 12. The $8 tickets are being donated to the chamber.
