Petroleum Catastrophe

Greater than the bombing of Pearl Harbor, the United States is suffering from external invasion and internal treason. Our very survival is at stake. I speak of our petroleum catastrophe.

In essence, the Congress of the United States must pass the following laws:
No petroleum pumped in the United States or its territories may be sold to any other countries. Owners of oil wells not pumping to capacity will be fined. All drilling restrictions will be abolished immediately. Incentive is offered for drilling new oil wells. The price per barrel of oil will be established at $50 (this includes imported oil. If they don't sell at this price, we don't buy.)

Two new refineries equal to our largest must be built pronto. The price of gasoline will be frozen at $2 per gallon. All passenger cars manufactured in 2010 must get at least 50 miles per gallon of gasoline. All petroleum powered electric plants are to be expeditiously converted to either coal powered or nuclear powered.

Gasoline purchases will be rationed. A master public transportation plan for the entire United States will be augmented immediately. Huge fines and long prison terms will be levied against all of the oil executives who are responsible for price fixing (in name, we have competition among the huge oil conglomerates, but in name only.)

Business as usual will not work now. We are at war for our very survival!
