Hurricane Coverage

»  Comments | Post a Comment

The other day a television news broadcast was telling of a new idea for hurricane coverage for Florida. The estimate for a Miami-Dade category five hurricane would cost approximately $88 billion.

I thought of the Andrew and Katrina costs and have a better idea than letting out-of-state insurers chance their stakes upon the inevitable.

Since our Department of Defense is very capable of defending our shores, it should also use its technology and resources to stop a category one in its tracks, with many large concussion bombs, or maybe something a lot more extreme to slow the winds in the wall, while at the same time making the water return to the oceans (dissipate.) When it rains, it pours!

Think about how these storms are allowed to come thousands of miles to pick up speed and slam into our coastlines. I say, screw the insurance companies and their ideas.

Even if wind coverage is separate from hurricane, you can run but you can't hide!

It's right to get maximum benefits, but the lower premiums for some don't make up for the loss of life and total destruction of paradise for others.

Our D.O.D. has the technology to do this task, and since our emergency management teams are already flying planes into the storms, why not try and blow these things apart before another one breaks our nation's economy?

The wars are not finished and neither are the hurricanes! People, listen and take action now, before we lose our nation as we know it! Africa is far away. There would not be a need for higher taxes in the D.O.D budget for this, as we already wasted too many bombs as it is.

It seems all right to try and police the world and make a better, stable environment, but if we don't take care of our own beloved country, then these new leaders are fools.

Somebody here in Highlands County has the ability to suggest this idea to the right people. It's simple.
