Fairmount Cinemas theaters were open Wednesday after being evacuated Tuesday at 5:45 p.m. when smoke was seen coming from a ladies room on the south end of the building.
The Sebring Fire Rescue Service helped theater workers and Sebring police with the evacuation, said Fire Chief Brad Batz.
Faulty wiring in a ventilation fan in the ladies room ceiling on the south side of the theater started the fire and burned part of a PVC sanitary pipe system. This released an acrid smoke.
"We isolated the fire and put it out," Batz said.
About two dozen people were inside when the smoke was detected. Many were given passes to return at another time.
"No one complained of injury, civilian or staff, Batz said.
