Cut budgets for schools, law enforcement, health service, etc., and the governor finds $1.7 billion to use for destroying a vital industry. How can such a sum be spent without legislative approval?
Seventeen-hundred jobs would barely cover the number of permanent employees. Hundreds more are seasonal workers. The closing of this company will wreck the fine city of Clewiston, Belle Glade and many of our smaller neighbors. The spin-off loss of other business will be tremendous.
If you have confidence in ethanol's role in our energy crisis, take a look at Brazil's answer, sugar cane. Don't destroy our nation's richest source for its production.
How many more stupid moves in our race for national suicide? Let's stop this gross error.
