SEBRING - Sheriff's deputies captured a man Friday in the Francis II Mobile Home park who was a suspect in an aggravated battery and attempted burglary the same morning on Ferdinand Street in Sebring.
Tanijel Robinson, 18, of Sebring, was arrested after a 28-year-old victim said Robinson hit him in the head with a handgun.
"The victim had an injury over his eye, but refused medical help," said Sheriff's Capt. Paul Blackman on Friday. "The victim also had a cut under his arm."
A K-9 track was conducted after the fact by Deputy Louis Pratts and his partner Blue in order to tie the suspect to the crime scene on Ferdinand Street and where he was captured, Blackman said.
The firearm was not recovered, according to Sheriff's Sgt. Manny Gonzalez.
According to the victim, he came out of his home and noticed the water running. He saw a man with all dark clothing and his face covered with white over his nose and his mouth.
The suspect, who the victim reportedly knew to be Robinson, pulled a handgun and the victim struggled with him, attempting to get the gun away from him, when he was hit in the forehead.
As the victim retreated into his house, the suspect then tried to follow the victim into the house. The victim was able to get his door locked and the suspect ran away.
"It was a pretty good laceration," Gonzalez said.
Deputies were called and Robinson was spotted in the Francis II Mobile home park. He reportedly tried to duck between trailers, but a second deputy was able to capture Robinson without a struggle, Blackman said.
It is unclear from the report exactly what Robinson was doing on the victim's property.
