Speaker Rubio: Not So Hot On Tax Cut

SEBRING - The question on everyone's mind was whether House Speaker Marco Rubio is for the proposed tax cut, which will be voted on Jan. 29.
The answer seems to be that he wasn't in Sebring to talk about that.
"I don't think there's any reason to vote against it," said Rubio, 36, an attorney who was elected house speaker in 2006.
Because of the current Save Our Homes constitutional amendment, "There are homeowners who cannot move and cannot buy another home."
What that means, said Rubio, R-Coral Gables, is that Florida doesn't have a property tax crisis, it has an affordability crisis.
Rubio was invited by Leadership Highlands to speak Wednesday at a Kenilworth Lodge luncheon.
The speaker professionally dodged a question from John Barben, who asked how governments will be affected, and if jobs will be lost.
"I just want people to be able to pay for what they are being charged," Rubio answered.
"It's not a significant property tax cut," Rubio said. "That's my problem
