I read with interest the op-ed in the Jan. 12 edition of Highlands Today, on whether evolution should be debated in science classes. It was attributed to the South Florida Sun Sentinel.
What the author apparently meant was that evolution should be accepted as proven fact, and that no other theory should be considered. I am sick of the argument that, "Evolution is science and creation and intelligent design are not, so don't debate them in science class!"
There is not a shred of credible evidence that one species can transform into a new species, even if you allow millions of years, and many scientists have come to that conclusion.
If you are willing to bar the teaching of the theory of evolution from science classes, I for one am willing to depend upon the home, the church and the media to debate which theory has the most credibility. But if you insist upon teaching the theory of evolution, then it stands to reason that other theories should be considered also!
Evolution is the outgrowth of the religion of atheism, and it requires just as much "faith" to believe it as it does to believe in a Creator.
I would rather have faith in God than to have faith in chance.
