Radio Stations

»  Comments | Post a Comment

I have two favorite radio stations.
One is the local '50s channel, 10:50 AM, which, with the exception of the occasional "These Boots are Made for Walking," plays great "cruising music" from my youth.
My other favorite station is from the University of Michigan.
It's called "Michigan radio for my Michigan and Northern Ohio snowbird friends and anyone else who likes to hear intelligent discussions and civil debate of issues with both sides presented" as well as many of the other wide variety of programs they produce.
I welcome you to give them a listen.
This is how I do it. Using my computer, I sign onto "Michiganradio.org." I follow the instructions to listen, using my Windows Media player. Sometimes it takes a minute to get the link going. I then plug in a Digital Audio Link (transmitter) into the headphone's plug on the side of my computer. Out in my garage, I have a small portable radio, with an audio in, that I plug in the receiver's portion of the Digital Audio Link. Presto, I have my favorite "local" station out in the garage or any other location.
The Digital Audio Link is available at many electronic stores. Mine came from Radio Shack, at less that $50, including a second audio cable.
When I am working at the computer, I simply unplug the headphone jack to get the sound at the computer. The transmitter will work up to 45 feet. I had to play around a little to get the best location for reception but it works well. So if you miss "Michigan Radio" or would like to hear "intelligent radio" please give it a try.
