SEBRING - The Highlands County Sheriff's Office is looking for two male suspects in the home invasion shooting and robbery Tuesday that hospitalized a Sun 'n Lake of Sebring man.
It was about 4:02 a.m. Tuesday when the sheriff's office received a 911 call reporting the attack.
Emergency Medical Services personnel arrived on scene at 4715 Granada Blvd., in Sebring, and found one male victim suffering from a gunshot wound, the sheriff's office reported.
"There was more than one person in the house," Sheriff's Lt. Tim Lethbridge said on Tuesday to clarify a sheriff's press release.
Detectives with the sheriff's Criminal Investigations Division reported they are looking for two male suspects in the home invasion.
Each suspect held a firearm during the home invasion and attempted to conceal their identity by covering their faces. The suspects demanded money and other valuables from the victims, prior to one victim being shot, the report stated.
Lethbridge said it is too early to say if this incident can be connected to the early morning murder of Samuel M. Tiller, 82, during a suspected burglary at his Falcon Avenue home on Nov. 24.
"We can't rule it out," Lethbridge said. "We'll certainly look at that possibility."
Anyone with information about the shooting is encouraged to contact the sheriff's office at 863-402-7200.
Anyone with information about the shooting that wishes to remain anonymous or to become eligible for a cash reward should call Heartland Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-TIPS (8477).
