When I wrote the letter to the editor about milking FEMA it was directed at the people that have been living off the taxpayers since the hurricanes and still are. I do understand that there are many people that have gotten away from FEMA by getting their own homes rebuilt, or finding other homes to raise there families. That's the way it should be and I certainly support the people that have.
Yes, FEMA is as well organized as the rest of the government, which is somewhere between ridiculous and totally out of control. It makes it very easy to milk the system, and by doing so take advantage of all the taxpayers of this country.
I do not begrudge anyone who truly needs help. I am also a taxpayer that has worked more than 30 years in the work force and do not care about any one's personal business, but when an article is written about one's problems in the newspaper it should explain the circumstances and not be left to read between the lines.
If you have been wrongfully billed then you should fight it as I would, but after you received aid from the taxpayers, we do have the right as taxpayers to scrutinize just where our money is spent. It's too bad that your anger with FEMA is also directed at anyone that questions the incompetence of the government, yes the same government that came to your aid at your time of need.
I still stand on my statement, if you're living off the government (AKA taxpayers) and still living in FEMA trailers or motels, hotels, housing supplied by the taxpayers, the hurricanes are long gone, get your own house, and if you don't have a job, its time to get one. I'm still tired of supporting you! I would like to see where it's written that one group of people owes another group a free ride.
