Teaching Of Evolution

I feel that the very idea that the Highlands County School Board has to have discussions and special meetings to address this issue is an excessively waste of thought, working hours and especially time away from more important issues.

For I feel that if one feels he is from an ape, then one should be in the idiot zoo where one will "fit in" and be at home and the school of teachings one's own beliefs. For apparently, from the letters one has written to the newspaper editor, he has certainly proved himself to be that of the ignorant and illiterate non-human species.

Our schools have enough other pressing items of concern to be addressed. For example, the safety of our children, the need of more qualified staff to fill and meet the needs of our children, and most importantly their educational needs of today's working arena.

I certainly do not feel that teaching a child about Darwin's theory is beneficial in the respect of them becoming a most productive employee and/or their stability in our society. Yes, our society! Also, please be made aware that should this teaching be enforced, then I feel that the teaching of the Bible should also be instilled into the classrooms. Why is it okay to teach only one subject, that of Darwin, and not that of God.

I also feel that prayer should be put back into the school system, as well as the Pledge of Allegiance, for I feel that since these have been eliminated from our schools, that violence has increased and the personalities and behaviors of our children has changed in a most negative manner.

This is for the Highlands County School Board members to take into consideration upon their next meeting and discussion on this subject. I personally will remove all of my children, my grandchildren, my nephew's and nieces, and all of my future family members from these schools. Then, where will the school receive their monies from? For without the Social Security numbers of your students, there are not dollar signs.

Again, I suggest that prayer not caveman ideas be placed in the school system.
