Incident With Knife Leads To Arrest

LAKE PLACID - Isaias Blas Gonsalez, 42, of 103 Suwannee Court, Lake Placid, was arrested Saturday and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.

Gonsalez reportedly approached the victim from behind and started a verbal altercation before pulling a knife from his right front pocket. The subject allegedly opened the knife and threatened to kill the victim, according to the arrest report.

Highlands County Sheriff's Office Deputy Kenneth Young made the arrest.

Cops: Battery Episode Knocks Out Man's Teeth

LAKE PLACID - Gary Neal Hazel, 48, of 344 Henscratch Road, Lake Placid, was charged with aggravated battery and obstructing justice following his Friday arrest.

Hazel allegedly started yelling at the victim when the person came to the defendant's home to pick up some personal items. The suspect asked the victim if, "he had any problems," before hitting him in the mouth with a closed fist, according to the arrest report.

The punch knocked out two of the victim's teeth and slightly busted open his lower lip. The impact also knocked him to the ground, at which time Hazel allegedly tried punching him in the face.

Hazel also tried to take away the victim's cellphone, yelling, "I don't want any cops at my house," the report stated.

Highlands County Sheriff's Office Deputy Jacob L. Riley made the arrest.

Man Batters Victim, Steals Vehicle, Police Say

SEBRING - Jesus Ronquillo, 50, of Sebring, was arrested Friday and charged with battery and grand vehicular theft, third degree.

The suspect allegedly started arguing with the victim inside her vehicle while the two were traveling on Sebring Parkway.

At one point, the victim pulled off into a turn lane just south of Home Avenue and told Ronquillo to get out of the vehicle, according to the arrest report.

Ronquillo reportedly then grabbed at her neck and tried to pull her toward the passenger side of the vehicle. She was able to get out and run away, at which time the subject gave chase but could not catch up, the report stated.

The suspect went back to the vehicle and drove it away. He was apprehended at a gas station.

Sebring Police Officer Raymond Rossy made the arrest.
