A 1-year-old Avon Park boy was killed on Christmas when he was run over by a Chevrolet pickup truck that was backing out of a driveway in th 1600 block of North Delaney Avenue, near County Road 17 A. West.
Deiego Gutierrez was pronounced dead at the scene of the traffic accident, according a news release by the Florida Highway Patrol, that investigated.
FHP Cpl. Ed Finneran reported that Teresa A. Cabrera, 23, of Avon Park, was backing a 2002 Chevrolet out of the Delaney Avenue driveway, renamed Sam Ashbury Avenue, about 200 feet south of County Road 17-A West.
The child walked past the rear of the truck. The vehicle's right front wheel ran over the child. The incident was not alcohol related and no charges had been filed against the driver by press time.
