Detectives with the Highlands County Sheriff's Office have confirmed the identity of a victim found inside a burned vehicle Nov. 29 in Hardee County.
The victim's name is Dwight Clyde Williams, 46, a citizen of Jamaica. He had been living in Highlands County under the alias Malik Addullah Muhammad at the time of his death, according to a press release. The name was withheld until his identity could be identified.
Williams' remains were found on Old Town Creek Road in Hardee County. A cooperative joint investigation between the Highlands and Hardee counties' sheriff's offices and the State Fire Marshal's Office began as a result of the discovery.
Lt. Tim Lethbridge, with the Highlands County Sheriff's Office, declined to give any further details about this ongoing investigation, such as an exact cause of death or a motive.
