Santa In Park, Christmas Parade Set For LP

It will be a big - and busy - day for Santa Claus on Saturday in Lake Placid.

The day will begin with the annual Santa In The Park program and conclude with the Lake Placid Christmas Parade.

Santa is expected to arrive in Stuart Park at 10 a.m. He will be seated on a comfortable chair provided by Badcock Home Furniture and More. Children will be able to talk with Santa, receive a goodie bag and have a photo taken with him.

Teresa Nicolai, office manager at C&C Plumbing, will be handing out cookies and punch. Several students from Lake Placid Middle School will help her.

The event, which will run until noon, attracted 350 kids last year, according to Sharion Hudson, program chair. Hudson is expecting 400 children from infants to 12 years old this year.

"We're a little bit behind, but we're making it happen," Hudson said.

Cash or checks are being accepted at the Greater Lake Placid Chamber of Commerce, 18 N. Oak Ave., from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Checks should made out to the Greater Lake Placid Chamber of Commerce.

The parade will then be held Saturday night beginning at 7. It will have 105 entries.

The theme is "Red, White & Blue Christmas."

The parade will step off at the corner of Dal Hall Boulevard and North Main Avenue. It will proceed from there south on North Main until reaching Interlake Boulevard, where participants will head east to its conclusion.
