Concert Band To Perform

AVON PARK - The Highlands County Concert Band and Sebring High School's top band students will perform together at 7:30 tonight at the South Florida Community College Auditorium.

Admission for adults is a $6 donation and for students a $3 donation.

The Brass Menagerie will perform Christmas music prior to the concert.

Dance Club To Feature Golden Era Big Band

SEBRING - The Highlands Social Dance Club is hosting ballroom dancing every Friday evening from 7 - 9:30 at the Sebring Lions Club on Sebring Parkway.

The music will be provided tonight by the popular Golden Era Big Band.

Walt and Sue will resume dance instruction at 6:30 p.m.

All club dances are open to the public. Appropriate dress is required.

Admission is $4 for members and $6 for non-members.

Lake Placid To Hold Christmas Parade

LAKE PLACID - The Lake Placid Christmas Parade will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 13.

The theme is "Red, White & Blue Christmas."

The parade will step off at the corner of Dal Hall Boulevard and North Main Avenue. It will proceed from there south on North Main until reaching Interlake Boulevard, where participants will head east to its conclusion.

Free Movies To Be Shown At Libraries

SEBRING - Movies will be shown at both the Lake Placid and Sebring libraries on Dec. 13.

"Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" will be shown at 2 p.m. at Lake Placid Memorial Library. There is no admission charge. Popcorn and lemonade are also free.

At the Sebring Public Library, "Ariel's Beginning" will be shown at 2 p.m. There will be free popcorn.

California Toe Jam Band To Play At Park

SEBRING - The California Toe Jam Band's concert at Highlands Hammock State Park is set for Dec. 13 from 7 - 9 p.m.

Admission is $5 per person. Children 12 and under will be admitted free when accompanied by an adult.

Those planning to attend are asked to bring lawn chairs and flashlights. The concert will be held in the picnic area of the park.

Heartland Symphony To Present 'The Messiah'

AVON PARK - The Heartland Symphony Orchestra and Chorus will present "The Messiah" at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 14 at the South Florida Community College Auditorium.

Admission is $5 for students, $10 for adults and $15 for couples.

The Drifters To Perform At Tanglewood

SEBRING - The Drifters will be on stage at Tanglewood at 7 p.m. Dec. 14.

All seats are $10 and are available at the door. Doors open at 6:15. A snack bar will be open.

According to a press release, The Drifters, formed in 1953, are the longest running band in pop history still performing live. The group has undergone many lineup changes and the singers performing now are directly descended from those early days.

Tanglewood is located one-quarter mile north of the Sebring Wal-Mart on U.S. 27.
