Traffic was creeping along at a slow pace Wednesday afternoon in the southbound lanes of U.S. 27 following a six-vehicle accident in front of the Lakeshore Mall entrance.
Emergency crews were on the scene directing traffic, talking with witnesses and starting to clean up from the crash, which happened before 1:30 p.m., Wednesday.
Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol confirmed that motorists were transported from the scene for medical attention, although the exact number, their names and their conditions were unknown as of 2 p.m.
No other information is available at this time, as investigators are still in the process of collecting information as to the cause of the crash and the identity of those involved.
