Sheriff's investigators are searching for a man and two women who beat and robbed a 73-year-old Lake Placid man in his Skyline Drive mobile home.
Sheriff's Capt. Paul Blackman said Tuesday the home invasion robbery was reported at about 10:50 p.m. Monday.
Two women and a man reportedly rang the doorbell and were either let in or forced their way into the home. It appears the victim knew or was familiar with the two women, but did not know the man.
It appears they initially used a BB gun, but armed themselves with a firearm and some knives owned by the victim. The man struck the victim in the head and they stole an undisclosed amount of cash, Blackman said.
The three reportedly left the area in a white vehicle, possibly a truck.
If apprehended they face charges of home invasion robbery, battery on a person over 65 years of age, and grand theft of a firearm.
Detectives do have some leads in the case.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact Det. Sgt. Darin Hood at the Highlands County Sheriff's Office by calling 402-7200.
