A Lake Placid man was transported to Lakeland Regional Medical Center in critical condition after an early morning crash Monday at Highlands Lake Drive in Lake Placid.
Jaime Valdovinos, 35, reportedly was traveling at about 12:51 a.m. Monday, south on Highlands Lake Drive, when his 1987 Toyota Camry crossed the northbound lane and onto the east shoulder of the roadway, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Valdovinos then overcorrected to the right, causing his vehicle to cross the north and southbound lanes onto the west shoulder of the roadway, the report stated.
He then overcorrected again to the left, causing the vehicle to rotate and collide with several mailboxes and a utility pole guide wire.
The Camry then flipped onto the west shoulder and came to a stop on its roof. It is not known if seat belts were in use or what may have caused the driver to lose control.
A hospital spokesperson was not able to provide any additional information on Valdovinos' condition as of 10:30 a.m. Monday.
