The Avon Park Wal-Mart Supercenter is scheduled to open today.
After months of delays, the doors to Highlands County's second Supercenter - and fourth Wal-Mart in the county's history - will open at 8 a.m. after a 7:30 grand opening ceremony.
The new Wal-Mart will have its own liquor store and a drive-thru area for customers getting garden and landscaping items.
At the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the Rev. John Dumas, pastor of the First Assembly of God Church, will offer the invocation. Members of the Avon Park High School Junior ROTC unit will present the colors, and Rebekah Loweke will sing the national anthem.
