A baker who was leaving Merita bread company, 1202 W. SR 64, at 5:30 a.m. Saturday was so surprised to find a man waiting for her, she didn't get much of a description. She didn't have much time, either.
"He snatched the purse off her shoulder and took off running," said Lt. Kenny Johnson.
"The only thing we know is that he is possibly a black male by his voice, in dark jeans and a dark hoodie sweatshirt," Johnson said. "He proceeded south on foot."
Johnson said the man is about six feet tall. Deputies searched for him, but the bloodhound lost the scent.
Johnson asked anyone who may have seen the man to call the Highlands County Sheriff's Office at 402-7200.
