A proposal to build a $3 million asphalt plant at the Highlands County landfill, using methane gas blow off to fuel their asphalt, is being voted on by the Highlands County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday, Sept. 18.
This would be just the vehicle the governor needs to prove that not all greening of Florida will cost money at a loss. This plant will save Highlands County $750,000 the first year of operation, plus save the cities of Avon Park, Sebring, and Lake Placid.
If the governor would support this effort, it would be a feather in his cap with both parties and the people of Florida that are seeing him as an exceptional governor.
