SEBRING - Official autopsy reports have determined the cause death of Anton Young, an inmate at Highlands County Jail, was hypertensive heart disease and the manner of death was ruled natural, Sheriff Susan Benton announced Thursday.

Young, 21, collapsed on May 8 in cell block 13 while he and other inmates were in line for breakfast.
Detention staff present responded immediately followed by jail medical personnel. CPR was performed and continued by responding EMS units. Young was pronounced dead at Highlands Regional Medical Center.

Following a death investigation by sheriff's detectives, interviewing all staff and inmates in the cell block, no foul play was determined. A preliminary autopsy revealed no trauma and there were no violent incidents with Young at the jail.

Young, of Avon Park, was serving time in jail for a violation of the work release program, which stemmed from operating a motor vehicle without a driver's license and fleeing to elude a police officer, according to the sheriff's office.

With this report now released by the Medical Examiner, the case is considered closed while detectives complete final reports and submit to central records.
